Meta asked me to delete my WhatsApp Business account. Should I?

Short answer: no. Close Meta's window and start again. That request only appears when the connection goes down the path for brand new numbers, and deleting the account removes the very thing Coexistence connects: your number running in the WhatsApp Business app.

Why Meta asks for it

Meta's connection window offers two ways to add a number. Connect a WhatsApp Business app is Coexistence: the number keeps working in the app on your phone and gains the Cloud API alongside it. Create a WhatsApp Business account puts a number on the Cloud API only, and a number cannot be in the WhatsApp app and on that path at the same time, so Meta asks you to delete the WhatsApp account first. ZapClaw only works with the first option.

What to do

  1. Close Meta's window without deleting anything.
  2. On a computer, open the ZapClaw dashboard and click Connect WhatsApp again.
  3. When Meta asks how to connect, choose Connect a WhatsApp Business app.
  4. Confirm on your phone: in the WhatsApp Business app, tap the message from Meta and paste the code shown on the computer.

If you already deleted it

Install the WhatsApp Business app again, register the same number and use it normally for a while before connecting: Meta may refuse numbers with little recent activity, and a freshly registered account starts from zero. If Meta then says the number is not eligible, see what to do.

All the requirements are on What you need to connect.
